Weekend Roundup: PRK edition

This is going to be a pretty monotonous weekend roundup!

Friday: I went in for my PRK procedure at about 9am. After almost an hour of waiting and having a few 'pictures' taken of my eyes, the doctor just went for it. I won't go into detail here, but I was a little panicked during the procedure. Sadly, this doctor doesn't give the patients Valium before he starts, unlike the surgeon in Utah... The rest of the day was spent either sleeping (thank you Tylenol PM) or laying on the couch in pain. Wonderful.

Saturday: More of the same. At my first post-op appointment, my doctor told me today would be the worst day and gave me Codeine to help with that. This day was spent either sleeping, laying on the couch in pain with an ice pack on my forehead, or having Matt read part of HP7.

Sunday: More of the same. The doctor lied, though. Sunday was by FAR the worst day. My eyes just constantly burned and were red and I was a little worried that something was wrong. More Codeine, sleeping, listening to movies (because watching them was out of the question) and HP7.

Monday: Miraculously, I woke up with no pain. Hallelujah. Especially since Matt went back to work and I was on my own. More laying on the couch and movies. Oh, and HP7.

Tuesday: Second post-op appointment. Apparently I'm healing well. I definitely don't have 20/20 vision, but it should get there in the next few weeks. I also realized how pretty PRK makes me. I can't wear eye makeup for another week, and I get to sleep in these awesome rec-spec-inspired goggles so I won't rub my eyes in my sleep.

Wednesday: Back to work. Oh, how I missed you.

I have to give a special shout-out to Matt -- he took great care of me this weekend, including doing like 7 loads of laundry, getting me my ice pack whenever I needed it, keeping me well-stocked on sugar free Fudgcicles, reading Harry Potter to me out loud (even though he's not an HP guy) and, most of all, resisting the urge to beat me because I complained so much. Love you Babe!

So glad you're back! And those rec-spec-inspired goggles...did you borrow them from your Dad (ahh...remember those raquetball days?!)?
